Meet Patrick Lainé

Patrick Lainé in our workshop

Patrick Lainé is the oldest of our collaborators. On March 23, he celebrated his 67th birthday. Behind his laughing eyes hides a calm and reserved temperament.

It is with great pleasure that we have chosen to reserve our first interview for him and to introduce you to this beautiful character.

How long have you been working at Guidotti?
It's been such a long time that it hard to count, I would say 43 or 44 years old ...
Have you always worked at Guidotti?
No I had worked before, I was an electromechanic on the elevators (I wired the electrical systems) then I worked a year and a half with my stepfather who was an electrician.
I then returned to Guidotti thanks to my brother-in-law, I was 22 years old and the company was booming thanks to its flagship product of the time, the strip for glass doors.

What is the exact name of your job?

I am an electromechanic by training but at Guidotti the name of my position is "fitter-fitter".

How did you learn the trade at Guidotti?
Just show me once and then it's good! I learn fast !
I know how to mount the whole range of locks, it is I who train the newcomers.

Describe your job in a few words:
I put coins in the locks and I do the wiring.

Do you like to tinker?
I hate that ! Probably a professional distortion. When I leave work I never tinker!

You often train newcomers, what advice do you give them to succeed in this job?
I insist on being methodical, always having a clean workbench. I show them how to work with the visible parts so that they don't have to search.
And finally to respect the assembly order, the new generation tends to want to go too fast.

Let's talk about you outside of work ... Do you cook?
I cook a little for myself but easy things. I like unique old-fashioned dishes, cassoulet, blanquette, choucroute but always savory dishes.

Have you converted to our Southwestern cuisine?
I like a lot, but I don't have luxury tastes, I don't run after foie gras for example.

You love sport ?
I like watching sports on TV, I watch everything !! Even pétanque!
But my favorite sport is soccer !! I support PSG (I'm still Parisian !!)
I hate tennis though, watching a ball go back and forth is not my thing. I even had the opportunity to go to Rolland Garros once. I didn't stay there, it bothered me ...

And finally ... Chocolatine or pain au chocolat?
Pain au chocolat always!
